The main assumption of the project was to create a space open to artistic activities, through the development and cleaning of the depot area, and to design facilities where such activities could be carried out. An additional function in the form of an office building is intended to direct potential tenants to this part of the city.
The restaurant building designed in the southern part of the plot, in the former tram assembly plant, is also to attract people resting in the Anders Park. The planned complex is to meet the needs of local residents, creating a space for work, relaxation, and communing with art and nature.
The location of the Design and Business Center was consciously chosen due to the extraordinary attractiveness of the historic depot buildings and the proximity of the Park and Anders Hill. The simple, light shape of the buildings, covered with an all-glass facade made of frozen glass, reflects the green, giving the impression of an extension of the park and a smooth connection between the interior and the exterior.
The introduction of divisions on the glass façade in the manner of laid bricks is to correspond with the adjacent brick buildings of the depot. Due to the light, neutral color, the buildings of the Design and Business Center constitute the background in which both the brick halls and the greenery of Anders Park are reflected. An important element is also to provide the maximum amount of natural light in as many rooms as possible.
Głownym założeniem projektu było stworzenie przestrzeni otwartej na działania artystyczne , poprzez zagospodarownie i oczyszczenie terenu zajezdni, oraz zaprojektowanie obiektów gdzie takie działania mogłyby być realizowane. Dodatkowa funkcja w postaci obiektu biurowego ma na celu skierowanie potencjalnych najemców do tej części miasta . Projektowany w południowej części działki budynek restauracji, w dawnej montażowni tramwajowej, ma przyciągnąć również osoby wypoczywające na terenie Parku Andersa. Projektowany kompleks ma wychodzić naprzeciw potrzebom okolicznych mieszkańców, stwarzając przestrzeń do pracy, wypoczynku, obcowania ze sztuką i naturą.
Lokalizacja Centrum Designu i Biznesu została wybrana świadomie ze względu na niezwykłą atrakcyjność zabytkowych budynków zajezdni oraz bliskość Parku i Wzgórza Andersa. Prosta, lekka bryła budynków, okryta całkowicie szklaną elewacją z mrożonego szkła odbija zieleń sprawiając wrażenie rozszerzenia parku i płynnego połączenia wnętrza z zewnętrzem. Wprowadzenie podziałów na szklanej fasadzie na wzór układanych cegieł ma korespondować z przylegającymi ceglanymi budynkami zajezdni. Poprzez jasną, neutralną barwę budynki Centrum Designu i Biznesu stanowią tło w którym odbijają się zarówno ceglane hale jak i zieleń Parku Andersa. Ważnym elementem jest również zapewnienie maksymalnej ilości naturalnego światła w jak największej ilości pomieszczeń.
